Overview

Participants will develop an understanding of the key role they can play in helping groups get their messages across and influencing commissioning processes so that commissioners want to work with the third sector and create opportunities to do so.

  • Putting yourself in the commissioner’s shoes
  • How to reach out to and influence commissioners
  • Marketing to the public and beneficiaries
  • Marketing services affected by personal budgets
  • How support providers have marketed groups to commissioners


Learning Outcomes

Delegates will gain an understanding of where and how they can influence the commissioning cycle including. They will gain an understanding of what drives commissioners; what they are looking for and the delivery pressures they are under. As a having the ability to clarify their ‘offer’ to commissioners and how to develop a marketing strategy based on this and the capability to establish and maintain productive relationships with commissioners.

If you are involved in providing development support to front line third sector organisations, this programme will develop your skills and knowledge base to ensure they are successful.

  • Local VCS Infrastructure BodiesSocial Enterprise Support Networks
  • National and Regional Networks who provide technical support to specific sub-sectors (eg waste, arts, social care)
  • National staff of federal charity structures who support to local branches
  • Development and Community Trusts in their role as support provider and community anchor
  • Rural Community Councils
