Personalisation Commission

Better Mental Health a Call for Ideas

ACEVO has launched a Commission looking at the personalisation of public services. The Personalisation Commission will look at the various reforms underway to personalise services (e.g. individual budgets), what the third sector's contribution could be, what the implications are for the sector, and what can be done to support the sector to seize the opportunities and address the challenges associated with personalisation.

Innovation Exchange is looking for great third sector innovations in mental health. Working with the North West JIP, the Exchange is putting on a Festival of Ideas on Friday 04 September in Manchester. The event will bring together leading innovators, commissioners and investors to meet one another, learn about and critique these innovations, and work together to develop them. The best respondents to the Exchange’s ‘Call for Ideas’ will receive an invite to the event – view more information or submit your innovation here. Deadline for submission is Wednesday 12 August.

Hutton Produces Report into Unemployment and the Role of the Third Sector

This year’s CEO Summit, held on Thursday 11 June, was a great opportunity for delegates to openly share experiences with each other, and hear from speakers such as: Stephen Timms MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury; Nick Aldridge, CEO of MissionFish; and Ian Charlesworth, Enterprise Director of Futurebuilders England.

Speakers shared advice and experience about leading through the recession. These were recorded as a series of podcasts by KnowHow NonProfit. To listen to the podcasts, simply register on the KnowHow NonProfit website here

ACEVO commissioned Will Hutton of the Work Foundation to prepare a report on unemployment and the third sector. The Work Foundation’s report, “Unemployment and the role of the Third Sector”, takes a comparative look at the current recession as compared to past recessions, particularly the Great Depression of the 1930s and the UK recession of the 1980s, examining policy responses from government aimed at reducing unemployment, and lessons to be gained for from this experience. The report also examines current UK government policy to combat unemployment and the risks and opportunities that this presents for the third sector.
