This report, a partnership between the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and ACEVO, examines how voluntary organisations invest in learning in order to better achieve mission.
It is based on desk research, interviews with sector practitioners and other experts, discussion at two seminars and the development of case studies.
It presents key elements of organisational learning practice and isolates the steps organisations need to take in order to become learning organisations, with all the benefits this delivers:
• informed decision making;
• concrete improvements in service delivery;
• informed, so more effective, campaigning;
• insightful policy development;
• increased legitimacy, enhanced reputation and brand and
• more efficient use of resources.
