Chief Executive - BAAF

BAAF is seeking a strong and visionary leader to build on their considerable achievements and take the organisation into a new era.

The British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) is an independent, membership-based charity. We work to promote the needs of children who are temporarily or permanently separated from their birth families. BAAF believes that every child has the right to grow up in a family and that, where this cannot be the child's birth family, every effort must be made to find a new family which can offer lifelong stability and security. We promote and develop high standards in adoption, fostering and childcare services and act as an independent voice for children's and young people's welfare and rights. We also provide a concerted voice on behalf of our members, including local authorities and health trusts, adoption and fostering agencies and individuals across the social work, legal and health professions.

The Board of Trustees is now seeking a strong and visionary leader to build on BAAF's considerable achievements and take the organisation into a new era. As Chief Executive, you will provide outstanding visionary leadership and direction to an established senior management team and inspire a committed staff of around 145 to progress our mission and ambitions. Developing and delivering our strategy, and cutting-edge programmes, you will actively promote the interests of children and young people and ensure that BAAF continues to be a well respected and highly influential voice for adoption, fostering and children's rights in the UK.

This high-profile appointment requires a strong track record of successful leadership and change management, with a thorough appreciation of the sector and an established presence within it. A passionate and energetic leader, you will be committed to the interests of children and young people and adept at addressing challenging issues in a politically sensitive environment. As our Chief Executive, you will regularly be in the national media spotlight, speaking as an authority on issues of concern to our members, so you will be experienced and confident working with national broadcast and print media.
