ACEVO's response to David Cameron's announcement of his new government following the Conservative victory at the 2015 General Election
Commenting on David Cameron’s announcement of new Ministers at the Department of Communities and Local Government, Sir Stephen Bubb said:
“Greg Clark’s appointment as Communities Secretary is good news. As a former shadow third sector spokesman, he understands and supports a strong third sector’s role in society. He has a clear and intelligent grasp of the devolution agenda and I look forward to working with him on empowering the third sector to deliver local, high quality public services.
“I also welcome James Wharton’s new post at DCLG. ACEVO North and our members across the country will look forward to working with him and with his new colleagues.”
Commenting on David Cameron’s announcement of new Ministers at the Cabinet Office, Sir Stephen Bubb said:
“I am pleased to welcome Matt Hancock to his new Ministerial role supporting civil society. We will work with him to create innovative public services that work with charities and social enterprises for the benefit of our communities.
“The Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson has a packed agenda. His first order of business is to fulfil his pre-election promise and ensure that the Local Sustainability Fund makes it through Parliament. He has been clear on the importance of charities’ duty to campaign on our beneficiaries’ behalf, so I’ll work with him to defend that and to defend our independence from government. We look forward to his advocacy on our sector’s behalf.”
