Commenting on the programme, Sir Stephen Bubb said.
“The Panorama programme, while thin in places, is a wake up call. We need more people in the sector looking seriously at ethically managed funds and we need to do more to engage with ethical investment principles. It’s time charity boards review the Charity Commission’s advice and question whether they are investing ethically. Ensuring that their investments conform to the particular and the wider good will help ensure that our sector remains true to our collective mission in all aspects of our work.
Fund managers need to get their act together and alert charities to potential ethical problems with their investments. There are plenty of ethical investment choices already available to charities and we expect it to grow.”
