ACEVO recommends: November 2024

ACEVO recommends is a monthly blog that curates noteworthy resources, content, and events pertinent to sector leaders.

UK Civil Society Almanac 2024

First published in 1996, the Almanac gives an overview of the voluntary sector’s scope and characteristics. It draws upon a unique historical dataset based on charity annual reports and accounts, data and evidence from government and sector research, and NCVO’s research. The 2024 edition is now live.

Co-production and a human rights-based approach

On September 2024, BIHR and the RITES Committee hosted a free, online event on co-production and a human rights-based approach to share learnings about co-production with both public bodies and organisations looking to commission co-produced work, and individuals and advocates who work as lived experience experts. Members of the RITES Committee shared examples of their work, their top tips for authentic co-production, and insights into how co-production can support a culture of respect for human rights. Check the website to read more about the event and watch clips from the speakers.

Nature towns and cities

Did you know that the most deprived areas of our towns and cities have on average half the tree cover of the least deprived? If you want to help change that, you can attend ‘Urban Forests for All’, a webinar on 9 December exploring ways to grow fairer urban forests. You will hear about urban forest strategy development, tree equity and equitable engagement approaches, and funding and valuation tools. The Urban Forest Accelerator project was funded by the Trees Call to Action Fund. The fund was developed by Defra in partnership with the Forestry Commission and is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
