Member directory

A digital space for ACEVO members to search for, connect with and message each other.

Are you looking for anyone else in the membership to connect with – from your region, operational space, or who has a certain skill set you could learn from?

Our member directory is a space to do just that! Simply log into the website, you will be able to explore our interactive member directory.

Any feedback or suggestions for additional features? If you have any ideas, please let us know!

How to use the directory

After logging in to the  ACEVO website, go to the ‘My profile’ section – also known as the ‘Member portal’.

On the left-hand side you should see ‘Manage my directory profile’ at the bottom of the contents list. Here, you will see your ‘Member directory’ settings and additional information fields that you can edit.

To update your settings, select ‘Edit member directory profile and preferences’ at the bottom of the page.

If you don’t want to be  part of the member directory, untick: ‘I would like to be listed in the ACEVO member directory’.

To accept member connections and messages from other members, tick: ‘I would like to connect with other members and allow other members to connect with me’.

Update your profile with information you are happy to share with other members in the ‘Member directory’.

Select ‘Save member directory profile and preferences’ at the bottom of the page.

Once you have updated your profile, navigate to the ‘Member directory’ to find other members. You can do this by looking for contacts based in the same region as you, with the same organisational activity as you, or by the skills they have. If they have chosen to receive ‘Connection requests’ you can connect with and message them.

Navigate to the ‘Member directory’ by selecting ‘Member directory’ in the sub-menu at the top of the website.

Try searching for a member based on region, organisational activity and/or the skills you are interested in. You can use the search bar, or the drop-down lists.

‘Member cards’ are seen in alphabetical order and if clicked, you can view the members full profile.

When a ‘Connection’ request has been accepted, the two members can send each other messages. You will be alerted to any new messages in the ‘New messages’ block.

To do so, click on the member’s card and type your message in the text box at the bottom of the page. Click send to start your conversation.

You will be alerted to any new messages in the ‘New messages’ block.

You will be kept up to date with any new ‘Member directory’ activity within a weekly digest email sent out each Friday. This will contain any new connection requests, connections or messages.

You will have the option to update the frequency of this email – if you wish.

Each time you access the directory, these notifications will also be visible in the directory blocks.

Golden rules for using the directory

The ACEVO Member directory helps to connect our thriving network of over 1,700 civil society leaders. It creates a space for members to find each other based on their region, area of activity and skills.

Below are four golden rules designed to underpin all interaction within the ‘Member directory’ to help make it a supportive environment that enables leaders to share and grow.

If you wish to raise a concern, please email membership@acevo.org.uk. To make a complaint, please refer to ACEVO’s complaints policy.

Our network is a warm environment of mutual understanding and learning. We want to replicate this mood in our ‘Member directory’. Our Code of conduct underpins how members, staff, trustees and partners should interact with each other. We do not tolerate any discrimination, including around age, disability, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation or class.

Keeping in mind that online interaction can be easily misconstrued, we ask all users to be mindful of the tone of their messages and avoid offensive or derogatory language.

Please also be mindful that members are extremely busy and might not be able to respond to your connection request or messages in a timely manner. If you need immediate support, please contact the ACEVO team.

Please treat messages you receive within the ‘Member directory’ with confidence. However, if you are concerned about a member and their wellbeing, please encourage them to reach out to the ACEVO support team directly.

Please be aware that any personal information you share either on your ‘Member directory profile’ – particularly around protected characteristics, will be seen by other members of the ‘Member directory’.

When messaging someone in the ‘Member directory’ you do not personally know well, please be cautious – particularly around the sharing personal information including protected characteristics. Remember that screen shots of messages can always be shared – so be aware that what you are writing could always be seen by others.

The information contained within the ‘Member directory’ (including messages) is created by, and stored in, ACEVO’s CRM system, Salesforce.

‘Member directory’ usage will be used for reporting purposes, to further customise and improve the Directory, and to inform other member services. Private messages between members are not monitored however may be investigated if any misuse is reported.

The ‘Member directory’ is a member-led space for peer advice and support and sharing of best practice and resources. We appreciate you using this space for this purpose and not for proactively offering services you and your organisation provide, unless otherwise requested.

If you are looking to build an impactful relationship with another member so you can learn from their experience, then you might want to consider having an ACEVO mentor. Our mentoring programme provides a confidential space for reflection and discussion with a peer in another charity or CIC.
