The revised Charity Governance Code – an introduction for charity leaders

Radojka was Chair of the steering group for the revised Charity Governance Code.

She has over 25 years of management and research experience across a number of sectors. Radojka is a Partner with Campbell Tickell and has been with the company for over 18 years and in consultancy for over 20 years.

She has developed a loyal following in her governance work and has been successful in helping a range of organisations to change and transform their governance arrangements. She regularly works in an inclusive way with Boards and senior teams whether supporting them in the transition to new legal structures (e.g. mergers or transfers of engagements), undertaking substantive governance changes, advising on regulatory and compliance matters, conducting governance reviews, enabling business and strategic planning, or reviewing organisational/Board effectiveness.

Radojka leads Campbell Tickell's governance and strategy work, and brings a track record of leadership development work and team dynamics. Her experience includes:

• project lead on a range of Board evaluations for clients such as the British Museum, the Office of Rail and Road, the EHRC, the PSA, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, RNIB, English Heritage and the Pensions Trust.
• work with regulators and funders, e.g. co-authoring the governance standard for the Regulatory Framework of the Irish Housing Agency; undertaking a range of assignments for Sport England; two research and evaluation projects for the Welsh Government, one for the Charity Commission and one for the Homes and Communities Agency.
• writing a volume on Board appraisal (last year); co-authoring a book of problem cases for the social housing regulator in England (2015); updated the Code of Governance for housing providers in England (2014-15); and co-authoring Better than Before, a research report and toolkit into the common factors that lead organisations to improve their performance.
• many facilitation assignments, for example working in this capacity with the EHRC, Stonewall, Amnesty International UK, the Legal Services Board, the Law Society, and Action for Children.

Radojka is a doctor of philosophy and has undertaken study of occupational health and safety, PRINCE2 project management, and coaching and neuro-linguistic programming. She has been a Board member of Soho housing, Chair of a small women’s charity, and sat as a resident member of the Haringey Fairness Commission (2019-20).

Jenny Berry was appointed as director of ACEVO North in April 2008, to lead on the expansion of ACEVO’s influence and support services in the regions. Jenny also leads on Professional and Leadership Development for ACEVO, which includes developing our suite of leadership courses, advising members with mentoring and coaching arrangements, and supporting members through any difficulties or crises they may have.

Previously, Jenny’s 25 year career in the Third Sector took her to the role of CEO of the CTA (Community Transport Association) a UK wide membership body based in Manchester, with over 2500 members across the UK.

Jenny is a trustee for two charities, one local and one UK charity, and is a member of the Charity Governance Code steering group.
