The New CEO programme will deepen your understanding of what it takes to be an inspired, impactful and progressive civil society leader, enhancing your abilities at an individual, organisational and systemic level.

We know how incredibly rewarding the CEO role can be, and we also know how demanding and challenging it can feel. We have identified the six leadership competencies most critical to success, and we are using these to underpin the programme: Action Catalyst, Collaborating Connector, Trusted Educator, Inspiring Influencer, Visionary Persuader and Self Care, Self Aware.

We will be equipping you with the practical tools and techniques that you need to be successful in your New CEO role, as well as looking beyond the boundary of your own organisation into wider society.

We will explore what it means to lead with a commitment to social justice and to be a collective conscience in public life. We will use cutting edge techniques and knowledge to help you develop your vision with others and lead for the common good.

The programme will support you to:

  • reflect on your experience, what you have encountered in your new CEO role to date and to identify what your leadership vision is
  • develop greater clarity of thought, to enhance your confidence, resilience and decision-making (especially when agility and swift action is required)
  • foster strategic thinking, collaboration, innovation and your understanding of how to lead in a collaborative and systemic way that tackles the deep-rooted problems facing modern civil society CEOs
  • grow your ability to shape your organisation through positive relationships, dialogue and action, with boards, partners and stakeholders, within and beyond your organisation
  • develop your leadership capability and presence, communication and influencing skills, including your relational leadership of remote and hybrid teams
  • learn from your CEO programme colleagues as you build your network, exchange perspectives, ideas, knowledge and experiences, as you apply your learning within your own complex environment and discuss the impact it is having, and as you support and challenge each other to stretch yourselves further.

The programme combines robust, academic research with the latest practical, evidenced approaches. You will learn within a safe environment by exploring models, theories and research and through a range of different techniques such as reflective practice, small group debates, case study discussions and interactive exercises.

The programme includes:

  • onboarding call with your programme colleagues and your team of facilitators
  • confidential 121 coaching session with one of the programme facilitators
  • a pack of learning materials plus signposting to further resources
  • a combination of full day in person workshops with half-day online sessions
  • Action Learning Sets where you will work on the ‘real life’ challenges and opportunities that you are each facing
  • peer learning groups and coaching sessions
  • intra modular work to apply your learning
  • guest speakers who will share their leadership journey, ‘top tips’ and advice

To make these programmes as accessible as possible, payment plans are available to spread the cost, please contact us at events@acevo.org.uk for more details.
