Ensuring marginalised communities have a real voice in campaigning for change isn’t new, but the demand that they are firmly in the driving seat is growing. This goes way beyond the obvious: that those with lived experience understand better than anyone what they need. It’s one of the most powerful tools charities have in pushing for necessary change.

So where does this leave traditional advocacy? Should CEOs and campaigners simply step back and platform those with lived experience alone? How do charity leaders help to make space for people’s voices if there are massive practical or cultural barriers, or if they simply aren’t in a position to speak up? And what are the implications for an organisation if doesn’t reflect or platform the communities it aims to serve or represent?

This webinar will explore these issues and others in terms of what’s next for advocacy communications.

Hosted by Peter Gilheany, Charity Director, Forster Communications, we’re joined by Kafia Omar, Advocacy and Communications Manager at Action For Humanity/Syria Relief, who specialises in the complexities of advocacy in conflict zones or unstable regions.

You’ll leave with practical insights on how you as a leader can put the voices and expertise of people with lived experience at the centre of your approach to advocacy.
