From heroic to collaborative leadership – what does it take?

Rosie is a Co-Director at Caplor Horizons. She graduated with a First-Class degree in Geography from Cambridge University and has experience working with rural communities in East Africa to improve the quality of secondary education and in Trussell Trust foodbanks (in the UK not-for-profit sector). Rosie is proud to be a young change maker and brings a broad range of talents, skills and experience to Caplor Horizons including impact assessment, facilitating strategic change and leadership development, as well as coaching and financial management. She is a qualified coach.

Lorna is a Co-Director of Caplor Horizons. With over 30 years of leadership and management experience in the UK and international not-for-profit sector, she has worked in over 30 countries facilitating transformational change.

She is passionate about enabling all people to flourish and reach their full potential, whilst living in harmony with and protecting the natural world. She is a strong advocate of approaches that enable these changes to happen, including: feminist approaches to leadership and organisational effectiveness; anti-racism work to help individuals and organisations tackle personal and systemic racism; a focus on our collective environmental impact and shared responsibility; understanding and embracing cultural differences to build bridges for peace; and effective collaboration across all areas of our work.

Lorna holds a degree in Independent Studies (anthropology and comparative religion) and a Master's degree in Values and the Environment. She is a qualified coach and team coach.

Kemal is a Co-Director at Caplor Horizons. He has over 25 years’ experience in the international development sector, including twice at CEO level. Kemal has worked for a number of organisations, from the large to the small. He has pursued a career that has enabled him to challenge, exclusion and inequality in multiple forms. He holds a degree in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD exploring educational exclusion and caste discrimination. He is a qualified coach.

Shivani is passionately curious. She started as a classicist at the University of Oxford, where she spent her time behind the scenes in the theatre & in student welfare. She then taught in a school in the slums of Dharavi as a Teach For India fellow. Wanting to push past curricular constraints, she joined the family foundation; Dharohar. Here, she tries to inspire her team, volunteers & students to love learning & see wonder all around them. She believes deeply in the power communities have to tackle their own challenges if given the chance and the confidence.

Ian is a Co-Director at Caplor Horizons. He has lived and worked in more than 30 countries. Prior to Caplor Horizons, the NGO that he led for 16 years grew consistently from €2m to €25m; at the time he left it had a staff of over 600 in 10 countries. Ian is a non-executive director of an entrepreneurial international horticultural business. He holds a BSc, MSc and PhD in strategy and strategic change and is a qualified coach. He has had honorary roles at two Business Schools. Ian is committed to responding to injustice by facilitating strategic change.
